There are new regulations regarding gas inspections that are going into effect in January 2019. If a gas leak is detected, the line must be shut down and remain down until the line is repaired and can pass a pressure test as mandated by the DOB, FDNY, and ConEd. The testing, as it is outlined, will be done visually and with gas detection meters in common areas and, specifically, near the gas meters. If nothing is detected, the building passes and will need to repeat in five years.
