This bill would require building owners to file the bedbug history for buildings with the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), and to either post the bedbug history in a prominent place within the building or distribute the history to tenants upon signing a new lease or a lease renewal. This legislation would require HPD to post a building’s most recent bedbug history form on its website.
Starting November 6, 2017, all multifamily owners must attempt to obtain bedbug infestation history from tenants OR unit owners including any remedial or eradication methods.
During December 2018 and before January 1, 2019, (for the previous year, from November 2017 through November 2018) and each year thereafter, owners will be required to report information for each dwelling unit to HPD.
